Prehistoric Stone Implement

While playing treasure hunter with my nephew’s Garrett Ace 250 metal detector, I stumbled upon this Brewerton spear point from about 7.000 years ago, according to the Maine state Archaeologist. It was found in southern New Hampshire at the same site I found a 1797 US one cent coin.

It’s chert. Since it doesn’t seem to be fully completed or finished (it should be sharper and thinner, shouldn’t we all?),  it could have been made for burial.  The Maine state Archaeologist seemed fascinated at the potential for there to be a real archaeological site where we found this.

This spear point is about 2 inches long. And yes, I understand that this has nothing to do with internal controls, but all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. (The Shining)
